Before

Hello, dear reader!  In case you've tuned out lately, and frankly, why haven't you; our lives are impeccably mundane.  In case you are still here we have tackled yet another home "improvement" project.

We decided it was time for the midnight blue carpet in the hallway/stairs/upstairs hallway to go the way of the plaid sofa.  Somewhere between ripping out carpet tacks and yanking staples out of the original 110-year-old hardwood floor I lost my sense of humor and several press-on nails.  Just kidding!  We all know that gel nails are the way to go these days.  In my opinion, which means nothing during home renovations, removing the carpet was a megawatt improvement.  As ugly as the floor is, that carpet was uglier.  And, I might add, would have held up during a nuclear winter.  Whoever installed the midnight blue dream didn't think carpet tacks were sufficient so made sure he stapled it down to the floor in approximately agoogle different locations. "THANKS, MISTER!"

I actually remembered to take "before" and "sort of not quite after" shots of the project so you can appreciate just how crappy our house was and how completely fabulous it has become.  Did I hear you need an Extreme Home Makeover?  Lily did her part by sweeping the old floor one last time!
